ive been spending most of my time over the last few weeks working on the locomotive and crew systems. the locomotive is a diesel-electric unit, which means that the diesel engine is in the rear of the train. this is the only locomotive i have seen in the game so far, but i expect to see more in the coming months.
this is not an a32 class, despite the odd looking cab. the virgin pendolino is a c32 class. so this will run very closely to the real-world pendolino. unlike the a32, the cab of the virgin pendolino is top-heavy, which is a design that will only be possible in the br pendolino. the virgin pendolino will also have a reduced power output, most likely due to weight restrictions.
the apt (slang for «automatic piloting tilt) was used in the original pendolino trains, but was removed before the introduction of the class 390. apt was a feature on the original type 309 and the original type 390. it was the only way for the driver to change the tilt of the train when on a curve, normally for the driver to prepare the train for the next banking. so if the driver wanted to change the tilt before the next banking, he could do it by a procedure of: 1. pressing the apt button on the floor. 2. tilt the front cab up/down. 3. press the apt button on the floor again. 4. the train will tilt from the new angle. 5. the train will now be at the new angle until the next banking.
the passenger experience is further enhanced by having to deal with a multitude of different people, all in one train, and from each of the 3 types of seats. accommodation is provided in the form of seats, seats with tables, and more seats with tables, all with a mixture of 5 different classes. unlike the real wcml, the layout of each car is reversed in relation to the rest of the train, and a whole host of connections are made to allow for a full passenger experience.
